Windows 2000 is technically not supported by Blizzard at this time, meaning, if you call into technical support and tell them what your operating system is, they may or may not be able to help you, simply because it is so outdated as far as knowledge bases go.

Your largest hurdle is going to be the support of DirectX 11, which Blizzard has been experimenting with in PTR/Beta builds of Cataclysm. If Win2000 can continue to support the changes in the game engine, then it stands to reason that Win2000 will also continue to support the game as a whole.

It won’t. The minimum requirements for Cata is Windows XP 32-bit (SP3), Windows XP 64-bit (SP2), Windows Vista 32-bit (SP1) and Windows Vista 64-bit (SP1). Better yet, upgrade to Windows 7 :)

From the official suggestions, win2000 won’t support cataclysm, at least won’t supports the game perfectly.Hey man, if you really want to play it, update your system.
