WoW LOL

Okay, here is one of my favorite tricks that generates significant gold while I am busy doing other stuff on my computer. And, it is NOT a bot or anything like that.

I speak of Hyjal Barrow Dens in Mount Hyjal. Oops, excuse me while I go and get these couple of obsidian ore deposits! LOL, there, another 8 or so, and sometimes some volatile earth too!

There are basically six ore deposits in the Dens, and they refresh (respawn, whatever) very quickly. Typically, toons come rushing in, either check for ore or are doing the quest at the end (not sure which it is, never bothered! LOL!), and rush back out. So, I think Blizzard made them rapid refresh so more players could enjoy mining them. But, I rarely see anyone else patient enough to camp out and farm the site.

I typically do it while busy doing other things on my computer (like updating this blog ). World of Warcraft runs in a small window in the upper right of my desktop and every few minutes, or between tasks, I check it and if there is ore to be had… I rush to it and mine it, then go back to my camping spot (more on that soon).

Occasionally, it is a race with another toon. And, sometimes I lose because of fumbling with my interface. But, hey, it adds spice and thrill to the process, and those other toons rarely stick around for more than a deposit or two. So, I get mine over the long run. Also, the deposits respawn so fast that it is no big deal.

Opps, excuse me again, two more deposits are ready! LOL! This tip is so cool, man, my toon also gets 6050 xp per deposit. I am at lvl 82 now and the last level happened primarily just off of mining this place! Really! I was really surprised when he dinged.

But wait! There’s more! The npc here are constantly fighting Twilight Assasins (who mostly leave you alone if you leave them alone). If bored, or one snags you with threat, they can drop greens valued around 60g!! Not always, usually just a few silver and some cloth. Mostly, I ignore them. But, like I said, if you are bored, then go clear them out (there are about a dozen) for a bit of a bonus.

And, there is even more! There tends to be a school or two of mountain trout in the pond. The fish out of here tend to be worth up to 4g per. I do not usually fish, but again, if bored or if you like to fish… one more way to make some gold at Hyjal Barrow Dens in Mount Hyjal.

Yow! Wow! Almost forgot to mention the key spot to camp for farming obsidian ore here! (I was mining some more deposits but notice it wasn’t in this article upon review).

Okay, there is a most excellent place to position your toon. Enter the Dens and continue down the passageway with the bedrooms on the left. At the end of it is a small pool at a hairpin turn. I stand between the edge of the pool and the corner, so, that I can look up both passages at the same time. This also allows your mini-map to detect ore deposits throughout the Dens.

With a little experience, you will learn where the deposits appear and how to best rush to them to get there before the competition, or to just efficiently get the ore and get back to this camping place.

One last tip, I sometimes use Critter Bites to make the (excuse me, more ore, ooooh alicite, around 18g on my realm) Grotto Vole into my minions (also bring out my favorite companion, Lil Smoky). Sure it is just vanity, but hey, wow is suppose to be about having fun. So, have fun and enjoy!
