Question by enrique_lopez_3: How much does hosting a World of Warcraft private server affect system performance?
I’m guessing it would slow the computer down considerably, depending popularity of the server, but I’m not sure. Can anyone who has hosted or is hosting a World of Warcraft private server tell me how much of a performance hit you have to take?

I host my own WoW server and I haven’t seen a big impact on my computer’s performance. Since towards the beginning, you won’t have too much people until you advertise etc…

The forums use the same account to authenticate you, so if it is inactive, you would not be able to log in.

Two weeks ago, I downloaded the World of Warcraft free trial online. The trial ran out, of course, and then I bought the full game. Can I upgrade the account that I was playing on during the trial and play on it, or has it been terminated?

Your account has not been terminated. Follow these steps :

Go to the site
Sign in with your battle.net log-in
Click the link that says “get free trial
It should say “Your free trial has expired”
Click upgrade your account
There is an option that lets you input the “key” that came with your game

You just click on your name next to the avatar. A little menu will pop up and you can click on whichever characters are there OR click on manage and you can choose which characters show up in the pop up menu.

wotlkwiki.info, btw im in the beta and the mounts arent all that exciting. the only thing im liking in the new beta build is that they implemented a couple new 2 person mounts and the motor cycle is friggin ownage

I’m planning to make my own World of Warcraft private server.
When I mean Private Server, I mean a server like Curse.com
Where people from around my state or country and connect and play together. Where they can donate for limited items and everything else a typical Private Server would have.

Is there a tutorial to do this? If there isn’t, could you explain to me the basic on how to do so?

I know they can donate and such, but if they donate for limited time items and such… You would need to make sure it goes toward the server upkeep and not for personal use. Watch out, if Blizzard Entertainment finds out and you are making money while doing it… You could be warned by Blizzard to shut down. I have seen it many times, and which Expansion you want to use? Youtube has great tutorials, and I wouldn’t charge to have them use the private server, thats just like playing on the retail server offered by Blizzard.

Depending on what your private server is about… I would definitely suggest starting out a normal rate server and if you get requests… Open another one for instant-80s (Lich King) or instant-85s (Cataclysm), its the best way to get your word out about your private server. But 1 rule of thumb, NEVER EVER EVER SPAM ON RETAIL SERVERS OR OFFICIAL FORUMS! LOL Good luck, email me if you need help and I will help you.

Question by OKwithme: How come game systems with the same graphics cards as a PC always have better graphics?
I’ve noticed that if a game system (arcade system or home console) has the same graphics card as a PC, the game system always shows the game better. Why is that? If you played the same game on a PC, you would have to tone down the graphics.

Because the game system usually has a butt-load more RAM, and both the RAM and the processor is devoted entirely to running the game, not a whole bunch of background programs that you may not even ever use.
