macros are for doing multiple things at once or spamming a certain thing for instance on my rouge (when i still played) i had a macro that would try to target a stealthed target and i would spam it until it found something an about 80% of the time i caught the enemy rogue first. or you can use them to cast multiple spells a once or target and spell at once (good for healers) it just takes some trail and error and you will eentally figure em out just keep trying

im a priest so i would put something like /cast shield /cast ect. then you bind it to the button you want and you only have to click 1 buttom instead of 3 or 4
you just have to spell everything right and the spaces have to be right also
a lot of the macro help on the web is way over my head.
in my oppinion, macros can be very helpful and very easy to use.
just open the macro interface, make a new one, name it etc. then where you would type stuff for the macro to do, simply hold shift and click the ability in your spellbook thata you want to add to the macro. it will write itself in there. then click the next ability you want to use.
thats pretty much it, easy peasy. (ofcourse as you have seen, they can get much more complex)

/pet attack
edit – also drag the macro icon to your action bar to use it / bind it

When you click on the first source, please look to the right of the screen where you’ll see a small box with Macros in blue background. This page, and the links in the box, are a great place to get started.
